How to use

Consume this medicine in the dosage and duration as per your doctors advise. While taking Albendazole, swallow it completely without crushing, breaking or chewing it. Albendazole is advised to be taken at a fixed time, but may be taken together with food (or) without food.

Q. What is Albendazole used for?
Albendazole is used for the treatment of infections caused by helminths (worms) like Enterobius vermicularis (pinworm/threadworm), Ascaris lumbricoides (roundworm), Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus (hookworms), Trichuris trichiura (whipworm), Strongyloides stercoralis, animal hookworm larvae causing cutaneous larva migrans, and Opisthorchis viverrini (liver flukes) and Clonorchis sinensis. It is also indicated for the treatment of Hymenolepis nana and Taenia spp. (tapeworm) infections and has shown good activity against anaerobic protozoa like Giardia lamblia and Trichomonas vaginalis. Please consult your doctor before taking any treatment for worms as there could be many worms against which Albendazole would not be effective.

Q. How does Albendazole work?
Albendazole inhibits tubulin polymerization that causes energy depletion to kill the larva and the adult form of the worm. Albendazole reduces the movement of the worm and therefore kills the helminth.

Q. Can I take Albendazole with fluconazole?
As of now, no drug-drug interactions have been clinically seen. So Albendazole can be taken with fluconazole but to be in safer side consult your doctor before taking the two medicines together.
