Uses

Loteprednol etabonate is generally used in treatment for redness and swelling in the eye. Used in treatement of and prevents redness & swelling (inflammation) following eye surgery.
Tobramycin is generally used in treatment of the treatment of bacterial infections.

How to use

Loteprednol etabonate is meant for external use only.Consume this medicine in the dosage and duration as per your doctors advise. For directions before use, please check the label. Hold the dropper close to the eye/ear without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid or ear. Wipe off extra liquid.

How it works

Loteprednol etabonate is a steroid. It blocks the production of some chemical messengers that cause inflammation, redness, swlling & other allergies in the body thereby improving the condition.
Tobramycin is an antibiotic. It makes the condition better and the bacterial growth is stopped by blocking the supply of essential proteins needed by the bacteria to harm the body.
Q. What is Loteprednol etabonate/Loteprednol etabonate etabonate?
Loteprednol etabonate is a corticosteroid available as an eye drop that reduces inflammation of superficial structures of the eye.

Q. Is Tobramycin a sulfa drug or penicillin antibiotic?
No. Tobramycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic used to treat Pseudomonas infections and other serious infections in patients (6 years and older) with cystic fibrosis

Q. Does Tobramycin treat styes, Pseudomonas, pink eye, staphylococcus and methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)?
Tobramycin/dexamethasone combination can be used to cure pink eye and styes, which are superficial eye and eyelid infections. Tobramycin treats Pseudomonas infections however it is not drug of choice in the treatment of staphylococcus or MRSA

Q. Is Tobramycin safe for infants?
No. Due to high propensity for kidney and internal ear damage, Tobramycin shouldn't be given to infants

No. Tobramycin belongs to schedule H and can be obtained only on production of valid prescription

Q. Is Tobramycin the same as ofloxacin?
No. Tobramycin and Ofloxacin belong to different class of antibiotics, and are used to treat different sets of infections.
  • Your doctor has prescribed Loteprednol etabonate to treat redness and swelling (inflammation) of the eye. Do not use Loteprednol etabonate for more than the prescribed duration as it may cause glaucoma or secondary infection.Do not touch the tip of the dropper to any surface, or to your eye, to avoid contaminating the eye drops.Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute immediately after instilling the drop.Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.Stinging sensation may occur for 1-2 mins. Notify your doctor if it persists for longer.If you wear soft contact lenses, remove them before putting in these eye drops and wait at least 15 minutes before putting your lenses back in.Make sure to use within 4 weeks of opening the bottle.Loteprednol etabonate is used to treat a variety of conditions that require either reduction of inflammation or suppression of the immune system.Don't use it more often or for longer than advised by your doctor.Take it with food to avoid an upset stomach.Loteprednol etabonate can make it harder for you to fight off infections. Notify your doctor if you have any signs of infection such as a fever or sore throat.Side effects such as mood changes or stomach problems can happen when you start taking Loteprednol etabonate. Inform your doctor if this bothers you.Do not stop taking Loteprednol etabonate suddenly without talking to your doctor first as it may cause worsening of symptoms.
  • Do not use Tobramycin if you are allergic to it or any other component in the formulation.Driving and using machinery should be avoided in cases where Tobramycin usage causes dizziness or eye drops cause blurring of vision.Do not mix or dilute your Tobramycin with any other medicine in your nebulizer.If you are taking several different treatments for cystic fibrosis, you should take them in the following order: bronchodilator (e.g. salbutamol), then chest physiotherapy, followed by inhaled medicines, and then Tobramycin.Do not use contact lenses when on treatment with Tobramycin eye drops.If you are using more than one eye drop, keep a gap of at least 5-10 minutes between two different eye drops.Doctor’s advice should be considered in case of patients with following history of disease conditions: neuromuscular disorders such as parkinsonism, myasthenia gravis (characterized by movement disorders and/or muscle weakness); coughing up blood in your sputum; kidney problem.Inform your doctor if you have ever experienced in the past: ringing in ears, any other problems with hearing, dizziness while taking Tobramycin.
