Description
Brigrel Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called antiplatelet medicines or blood thinners. It helps your blood flow more easily and prevents formation of harmful blood clots, thus preventing heart attack and stroke.
Brigrel Tablet reduces the risk of having another heart attack, stroke, or blood clots in stents, especially in a patient who has already undergone angioplasty due to severe chest pain or heart attack. It is usually prescribed in combination with other medicines like asprin. It may be taken with or without food and should be taken at the same time each day. It is important to keep taking this medicine even if you feel well. If you stop taking this medicine, it may increase your chance of having a heart attack or stroke.
The most common side effect is bleeding. You may have nosebleeds, heavier periods or bruising. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about bleeding. Other potential side effects include headache, feeling dizzy, indigestion, nausea and difficulty in breathing or shortness of breath.
This medicine is not suitable for some people. Do not use it if you are actively bleeding from any site, you have had a stroke caused by bleeding in the brain, you have severe liver disease, or if you are taking certain medicines. It is best avoided if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. This medicine may need to be stopped temporarily before a planned surgery or dental treatment.
