Uses
Ertapenem is generally used in treatment of prevention of infection after surgery of the colon or rectum and severe bacterial infections It is generally used in treatment of infections of various body parts like skin and soft tissues, urinary tract, blood, brain and lungs (pneumonia).

Ertapenem is an antibiotic. It makes the condition better by preventing the bacteria from forming a bacterial protective covering that's essential for the bacteria to survive, thereby killing them.
