Hydrocortisone Topical is generally used in treatment of the treatment of allergy symptoms.
Polymyxin B is generally used in treatment of the treatment of bacterial infections.
Bacitracin Topical is generally used in treatment of the treatment of bacterial skin infections.
Neomycin Topical is generally used in treatment of the treatment of bacterial skin infections.

How it works

Hydrocortisone Topical is a steroid. It blocks the production of some chemical messengers that cause inflammation, redness, swlling & other allergies in the body thereby improving the condition.
Polymyxin B is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by destroying the bacterial cell membrane.
Bacitracin Topical is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by preventing them from forming their own protective covering which is required for their survival in the human body.
Neomycin Topical is an antibiotic which treats the infection by killing bacteria. It kills the bacteria by preventing the supply of proteins that are essential for the bacteria to carry out vital functions.
Q. Is Hydrocortisone Topical safe?
Hydrocortisone Topical is safe when used at prescribed dose and duration as advised by your doctor

Q. Is Hydrocortisone Topical good for ringworm, cold sores, haemorrhoids, scars or burns?
No. Hydrocortisone Topical is contraindicated in any condition where the skin is infected or inflamed or has an open wound

Q. Does Hydrocortisone Topical help in eczema, acne, hives, dry skin and thrush?
Hydrocortisone Topical relieves the itching associated with eczema and local swelling and itching associated with hives. It should not be used in acne, dry skin and thrush.

Q. Is Polymyxin B an antibiotic/sulpha drug/penicillin?
Polymyxin B belongs to a class of medication called antibiotics. It is not a sulpha drug/penicillin

Q. Is Polymyxin B bacteriostatic or bacteriocidal?
Polymyxin B is bactericidal i.e. it kills bacteria

For additional topical infections in MRSA, bacitracin could be used.

Q. Does neomycin expire?
Obviously, Neomycin Topical expire. All the medicines come with an expiry date and its mandatory to check the expiry date mentioned on the pack before using any medicine.

Q. Does Neomycin Topical cover pseudomonas?
No, Neomycin Topical is not effective against pseudomonas

Q. Does neomycin contain penicillin?
Neomycin Topical refers to a group of medications called aminoglycosides and does not contain penicillin.

Q. Does neomycin cause tinnitus?
Intake of Neomycin Topical may cause damage to ear and one of the known symptoms of Neomycin Topical is tinnitus.
  • The injectable form of this drug is given only to hospitalized patients and under medical supervision.You may get diarrhea after taking the injection. This usually settles as the course id completed. Consult your doctor if the diarrhea persists or worsens.Consult your doctor if you get watery or bloody stools after completing the course.Do not take Polymyxin B if you are allergic to Polymyxin B or any of the other ingredients of the drops or ointment.Do baseline kidney function test before starting the medicine.Consult your doctor before taking Polymyxin B eye ointment/ drops: If you are taking herbal drugs or eye drops. If you are applying any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or steroids. If you wear contact lenses. If you have thinning of the eye tissue. If you have diabetes.Women who are pregnant or breast feeding should consult the doctor on taking this medication.Eye pressure should be regularly checked in patients taking the eye ointment /drops especially in children.Do not drive or use machines immediately after using the drops/ointment  as it may cause blurred vision.If you wear contact lenses, then remove them before applying the drops/ointment  and wear them only after 15 min.
