Sulfadoxine is generally used in treatment of bacterial infections and malaria
Artesunate is generally used in treatment of the treatment of malaria. It is not used to prevent malaria or to treat severe malaria (where it has affected the brain, lungs or kidneys).

Sulfadoxine is an antibiotic. It stops the bacteria from producing folic acid, a nutrient required for bacterial multiplication.
Artesunate is an antiparasitic drug. It works by producing harmful chemicals (free radicals) within the malarial parasite, thereby killing it.
Pyrimethamine is an antiparasitic drug which treats malaria. It works by increasing the levels of haeme in the blood, a substance toxic to the malarial parasite. This kills the parasite and stops the infection from spreading.

- Do not start or continue the Artesunate tablets and consult your doctor If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Artesunate.Do not start or continue the Artesunate tablets and consult your doctor you are in first 3 months of pregnancy or If you are breast feeding.Do not drive or operate machinery after taking Artesunate because you may feel sleepy.
- Pyrimethamine when given with sulphonamide, it should be given with folic acid (vitamin) supplement.Do not use Pyrimethamine if you are allergic to Pyrimethamine or any other ingredient.Do not take Pyrimethamine if you have megaloblastic anemia due to folate deficiency.Do not take Pyrimethamine if you have kidney or liver problems; fits (seizures); depression; bone marrow problems; stomach or bowel problems (eg, malabsorption syndrome); phenylketonuria, or alcoholism.
