How to use

How it works

Mesalazine / Mesalamine is an aminosalicylate. It makes the condition better by suppressing the production of chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause inflammation (swelling) in the intestines. This reduces ulceration, bleeding and painful symptoms, and prevents fu disease.

Asacol (mesalazine) can be taken with Nyquil, Tylenol (paracetamol), Gaviscon (sodium alginate) and Imodium (loperamide) only if prescribed by your doctor. It should not be taken with Advil (ibuprofen) or aspirin

There is no evidence of Mesalazine / Mesalamine affecting fertility, but it may very rarely and reversibly reduce sperm count. If you experience any such problems, please consult your doctor.
  • You have been prescribed Mesalazine / Mesalamine for treating and lowering the symptoms of mild inflammatory bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis.Don't break, chew, or crush the tablets or granules. Swallow them whole with plenty of water.Do not take antacids with Mesalazine / Mesalamine as it can make your inflammation worse.Your doctor may monitor your kidney and liver functions before you start treatment with this medicine and regularly thereafter. Inform your doctor if you have severely decreased kidney or liver function.Don't take Mesalazine / Mesalamine if you're allergic to aspirin or if you have blood disorders.
