Uses

Imipramine is generally used in treatment of bed-wetting and depression It is generally used in treatment of patients intolerant of or unresponsive to alternative treatment options for depression.
Diazepam is generally used in treatment of the treatment of short term anxiety.

How to use

Consume this medicine in the dosage and duration as per your doctors advise. While taking Imipramine, swallow it completely without crushing, breaking or chewing it. Imipramine is advised to be taken at a fixed time, but may be taken together with food (or) without food.

Imipramine increases the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that help in regulating the mood and treat depression.
Diazepam is a benzodiazepine. It is a psychoactive drug that improves the condition by increaseing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger that reduces the abnormal activity of the brain nerve cells.

  • The main dose should be taken at night as this drug may produce drowsiness or sleepiness.It can take 4 to 6 weeks for Imipramine to start working.You should continue the treatment for at least 6 months after you feel better to stop depression from coming back.If your doctor asks you to stop Imipramine, you should reduce the dose slowly over 4 weeks. You should not discontinue it abruptly.Avoid driving or operating machinery as it may decrease alertness.Avoid consuming alcohol when taking the Imipramine, as it may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness.The addiction/dependence potential of Imipramine is very less.It may be extremely dangerous in overdose.
  • If you are taking Diazepam for the treatment of insomnia and anxiety, it should not be used more than 4 weeks.It may become less effective over the time.It causes sleepiness or drowsiness. If this happens to you, do not drive or use machinery.Avoid consuming alcohol when taking the Diazepam, as it may cause excessive sleepiness or drowsiness.Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive or breastfeeding.Inform your doctor if you have ever been diagnosed with kidney or liver problems.The addiction / habit-forming potential of Diazepam is very high.
