Gentamicin is generally used in treatment of the treatment of bacterial infections.
Miconazole is generally used in treatment of the treatment of fungal infections.
Betamethasone is generally used in treatment of the treatment of allergy symptoms.

How to use

Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self administer.
Miconazole is meant for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. For directions before use, please check the label. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.

How it works

Gentamicin is an antibiotic. It makes the condition better and the bacterial growth is stopped by blocking the supply of essential proteins needed by the bacteria to harm the body.
Miconazole is a drug thats antifungal. It makes the condition better by destroying the fungal cell membrane resulting in the fungi to die.
Betamethasone is a steroid. It blocks the production of some chemical messengers that cause inflammation, redness, swlling & other allergies in the body thereby improving the condition.
Q. Is Gentamicin a macrolide, steroid or a sulfa drug?
Gentamicin belongs to broad spectrum aminoglycoside. It is not a sulfa , macrolide or steroidal drug.

Gentamicin is a nephrotoxic drug and consultation with the doctor before intake of this drug is advisable.

Retention edema is not treated with Betamethasone. As a side effect glucocorticoids may cause salt and fluid retention causing edema or aggravating edema. The risk of inducing edema and hypertension is almost negligible as Betamethasone is not known to cause retention of salt and water.

Q. Is Betamethasone stronger than hydrocortisone?
Betamethasone and hydrocortisone belong to the same class of medications (i.e. corticosteroids) and produce almost similar pharmacological responses. The effect may vary based on the conditions and individual response. Always follow doctor’s advice regarding its use.

Q. Can I take Betamethasone with ibuprofen?
When corticosteroids and steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) like Ibuprofen are taken together there are high chances of developing gastrointestinal bleeding. Therefore, consult with your doctor when you take Betamethasone and any NSAID together.
