Neomycin is generally used in treatment of the treatment of bacterial infections.

How to use

Neomycin is meant for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. For directions before use, please check the label. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.
Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self administer.

How it works

Neomycin is an antibiotic. It makes the condition better and the bacterial growth is stopped by blocking the supply of essential proteins needed by the bacteria to harm the body.
Betamethasone is a steroid. It blocks the production of some chemical messengers that cause inflammation, redness, swlling & other allergies in the body thereby improving the condition.

No, Neomycin does not contain sulfa (sulphonamide group) and the sulphate group present in this drug has no link with sulfa either

Betamethasone and hydrocortisone belong to the same class of medications (i.e. corticosteroids) and produce almost similar pharmacological responses. The effect may vary based on the conditions and individual response. Always follow doctor’s advice regarding its use.

Q. Can I take Betamethasone with ibuprofen?

  • Neomycin tablets are not recommended for children below six year of age.Some patients (infants, elderly, obese and cystic fibrosis [genetic disorder that affects lungs] patients) may require monitoring of Neomycin levels in blood to prevent damage to the ear and kidneys.Caution is advised in patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease or any disease characterized by muscle weakness, or in patients about to receive general anesthesia.Caution is also advised in patients who are exposed to loud noise, or patients who have been dehydrated due to diarrhea or vomiting.
  • Betamethasone is used to treat a variety of conditions that require either reduction of inflammation or suppression of the immune system.Don't use it more often or for longer than advised by your doctor.Take it with food to avoid an upset stomach.Betamethasone can make it harder for you to fight off infections. Notify your doctor if you have any signs of infection such as a fever or sore throat.Side effects such as mood changes or stomach problems can happen when you start taking Betamethasone. Inform your doctor if this bothers you.Do not stop taking Betamethasone suddenly without talking to your doctor first as it may cause worsening of symptoms.
