Uses

Tegafur is generally used in treatment of cervical cancer, head, neck cancer, ovarian cancer and Testicular cancer, breast cancer, non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), blood cancer, lung cancer, bone cancer and urinary bladder cancer.
Uracil is generally used in treatment of cervical cancer, head, neck cancer, ovarian cancer and Testicular cancer, breast cancer, non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), blood cancer, lung cancer, bone cancer and urinary bladder cancer.

Side Effects

• Bronchospasm
• Decreased white blood cell count
• Diarrhoea
• Esophagitis
• Increased risk of infection
• Inflammation of the rectum
• Loss of appetite
• Low blood platelets
• Nausea
• Stomatitis (Inflammation of the mouth)
• Vomiting
• Weakness

How it works

Tegafur interferes with the growth of DNA and RNA of the cancer cells by substituting their building blocks. It prevents the cancer cells from growing and multiplying.
Uracil interferes with the growth of DNA and RNA of the cancer cells by substituting their building blocks. It prevents the cancer cells from growing and multiplying.
